Mass Communication Training & Qualifying Institute- MCTQI is specialized national scientific institution mainly involved providing a professional media training and rehabilitation for media personal and qualify both governmental and nongovernmental media institutions.MCTQI is non profit institution.
MCTQI was established by presidential decree No. 222 for the year 1999 by the integration of Khalifa Radio and TV Institute in (Sana'a) and Media Institute (Aden)
During the period from 1999 to the end of 2010 MCTQI trained more than 3500 media personal in the various media topics such as journalism (press – radio – TV – Internet), radio, television techniques, language skills, media and public relations.
MCTQI offers several training opportunities for beginner and professional journalists.
MCTQI offers training programs basic and advanced levels in Journalism and technical for Radio and TV personal.
MCTQI offers training programs to assist in the use of the Internet and electronic media.
MCTQI offers advanced training programs in the media, public relations and new media.
- MCTQI organizes several of intellectual and cultural activities associated with the role of media in various aspects of life through the hosting famous media authors and journalists from Yemen and abroad
MCTQI is working to implement long-term strategy to train and qualify more than 4000 journalists supporting and funding by International donors
MCTQI is working to implement a five-year training plan (2011-2015) to qualify 1072 journalists and media professional who working in the national, civil society NGO's
MCTQI contributed and continues to train a cadre of media workers of the Republic of Comoros in journalistic skills, radio and TV shows and electronic media were more than 48 trainees participated in MCTQI training activities for 2009-2010
MCTQI seeks to strength partnership and cooperation with civil society organizations and the involvement of gender in the training process.
MCTQI seeks to develop training systems for remote internal network through a private frame relay (data transmission) and the exchange system and multi-media services on a satellite (MENOS).
MCTQI is working to strength the bilateral cooperation agreements signed between the Ministry of Information in the Republic of Yemen and the ministries of Arab and foreign countries with (Syria - Algeria - Tunisia - Morocco - Saudi Arabia - Oman - Qatar - Sudan - Comoros - Somalia - Turkey - France - Germany with regard to component of professional training in these agreements furthermore, expertise exchange and trainers in various topics of information.
MCTQI organize in cooperation and partnership with the institutes, centers and training institutions, regional and international such as - the African Centre for Training of Journalists and Communicators in Tunis –the Syrian media training center - the Academy of Science Communication and Information - Al Jazeera Centre for Training and Development - the Arab Center for the training of radio and television in Damascus - the Academy of the Voice of Germany DW-AKADEMIE - Danish School of Journalism and Media -Media Institute in Albania - the British Broadcasting Corporation BBC - Radio France International RFI-Canal France International CFI-Radio Netherlands training center RNTC.
MCTQI has coordinated with regional and international organizations such as the Arab States Broadcasting Union ASBU and the Arab Organization for Education, Science and Culture ALESCO. United Nations Development Programme UNDP, FREE VOICE INTERNEWS NETWORK EQUAL ACCESS – Friedrich Ebert stifung FES-CHF International.
MCTQI has currently more than 50 staff in head office in Sana'a and Aden branch.
